THESE AUTHORS ARE KILLING IT
There are far too many talented mystery and thriller writers to make an all-inclusive list. In some cases I have listed specific titles and in others, a series name. Either way, take the time to check them out. You won't regret it.
THE BEST OF THE BEST
Some are bestsellers, and some are not. Treat yourself to a book by a writer with whom you are unfamiliar. You will not be disappointed. In no order, here are my favorite mystery and thriller writers.
MICHAEL CONNELLY
THE HARRY BOSCH SERIES
Just outstanding in every way. Catch his new book, The Late Show, coming July 18th. This is a new series. I have not read it yet, but I hear that it is great. Not to worry, Harry will be back in late 2017.
DON WINSLOW
I just read two of the best books in any genre. THE POWER OF THE DOG and its companion, THE CARTEL. In 2019 he completed this trilogy with THE BORDER. These are outstanding novels about drugs, money, sex, politics, and the futility of the war on drugs. Don Winslow is my new hero. He writes like no other. I place him alongside Peter Blauner, James W. Hall, and Michael Connelly. Buy EVERYTHING that he has written. He is simply one of the best.
JONATHAN KELLERMAN
THE ALEX DELAWARE SERIES
A child psychologist by trade, Kellerman lets us look at children and adults in far worse trouble than we could imagine.
LEE CHILD
THE JACK REACHER SERIES
A man with an obscure background, righting wrongs. I was hesitant to read this great series when it started but now, I love Lee Child.
GEORGE PELECANOS
Another literary writer in the same vein as Hall. Please be patient, he is a great writer. Check out all his books.
JOHN SANDFORD
Travel to the freezing Mid-West, specifically Minnesota where Lucas Davenport and the agents of the B.C.A., the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension face down perps of every stripe. Read all his Prey book as well as the Virgil Flowers series. I like all of them.
ROBERT B. PARKER
The guy who started it all. Read ALL his books. The Spenser series is the best but do not ignore the rest.
ROBERT CRAIS
I am a massive fan of his work. The protagonist Elvis Cole, and his partner Joe Pike make every case a breeding ground for trouble, laughs, and any other emotion that you feel. Read all of his work!
